Welcome to Harvard Business School. It is an exciting time to be on campus, and it is wonderful to have you here.
You have embarked upon an educational journey that will, quite literally, transform your life. As you find your way over the next few weeks, let me offer a few words of advice.
Make the most of your experience. Study hard, and think carefully about how best to take advantage of the abundant opportunities available to you. Not all learning will happen in the classroom; in fact, some of your deepest insights may occur in study groups or after class. Relish those moments.
Invest in your classmates and the people in your community. The relationships you form over the next two years will last a lifetime. Get to know the faces in your section and your professors, and then expand your horizon to staff and to other faculty and students. Reach out; say hello. Learn about each other and learn from each other.
Challenge yourself. Explore not just your skills, but your values. Think about not just what you want to be, but who you want to be. Utilize the remarkable resources on campus.
I look forward to getting to know you better in the coming weeks at section lunches and other events. Meanwhile, I wish you all the best as you finish Foundations and begin the rest of the RC.
