OD Beats ND in Non-League Play

ALLSTON (OD Press) – Normally this reporter would have the smack-talk engine up and running, but this week’s game report is from a friendly match, as OD called out ND for a game of soccer on the Columbus Day Holiday. While the ND side was out early performing drills and warm-up exercises (give ’em a break, they’re RC’s!), OD showed up fashionably late and walked right onto the field ready to get the game done so we could socialize over some cold frosty beverages.

The first half was largely dominated by OD, but neither team was able to convert due to stellar play in the goals. After a blistering halftime rant by goalkeeper Derek “Mr. Roboto” Mendez, OD came running out of the gate in the second half and took the lead on an own goal by ND’s Pablo Sanders. Not wanting to be outscored by ND, OD’s Peter “Stoichkov” Velikin finally put one in for the Dark Side. OD clamped down on defense, and Mendez notched another soccer shutout as the final whistle blew – OD over ND 2-0. Man of the match was “I left my heart in San” Francisco de Asis Martinez-Jerez (OD Faculty), who wowed everyone with his stellar ball-handling skills and nearly scored several times.

After-match festivities were held at the fabulous Bus Stop in Allston.
The OD soccer team would like to thank the ND soccer team and all the fans from OD and ND for a great time!
