Letter from the Editor

I thought I knew what I was getting into when I took over from Kay as Editor-in-Chief of The Harbus five weeks ago. The truth is that I had absolutely no idea. Five roller-coaster weeks and many sleepless nights later, as I present the last issue of the year, I am humbled by the abundance of talent that we have around at HBS.
In the course of my discussions with columnists, writers and staff
of The Harbus, I have learned a tremendous deal about startups, dating, faculty and social enterprises, just to name a few. I am honored to be your editor and excited about the issues that we
have in store for you next year.

It’s a very exciting time of the year for the RCs (forgetting the looming finals for the moment). As we step back into the real world, albeit briefly, with enhanced skills that we all claimed to have gained through our year at HBS, I would like to take this opportunity to wish the RCs good luck in their summer jobs. I hope everyone gets what they wanted out of it, whether it is money or learning or just pure fun. When we all return to HBS, hopefully wiser, we will finally have our schedules in our hands, and I hope we can make good use of them. It seems like yesterday that the 900+ of us landed on the campus wondering how we were going to fit into the HBS community and create a space of our own. In retrospect, it was far easier than any of us anticipated.

To the ECs, this is a time of anticipation and celebration. Congratulations for successfully graduating from the best B-school in the world, and thank you for providing this incredible platform from which the RCs can take over the reins. Good luck in your second stint out in the real world. I hope you have a great life ahead of you.

To the Class of 2012, we welcome you into our incredible community and cannot wait to have you on campus.

To the outgoing Harbus leadership team, Kay, Joanne and the rest of the Board, thank you for building this incredible organization and trusting us with it. We hope to continue your good work next year.

On behalf of The Harbus Board – Dan, Ami, Jyoti, Shruti, Diana, Howard and I – we thank you for reading The Harbus and will catch you on the other side of the break.
