Let’s face it, guys. Whether you love it or hate it, there’s no denying Valentine’s Day is lurking upon us all. For those of you lucky enough to have that special someone in your life, Valentine’s Day presents an opportunity to openly recognize the importance of your relationships.
For others, Valentine’s Day can either be a day of excruciating agony or one full of the potential to turn that unsaid something with a section-mate or squash partner into something much less…unsaid.
With interviews, cases and requisite section-bonding time, there hasn’t been much time spared for Valentine’s Day planning for that special someone. So, here I am to your rescue. Here’s a list of creative ideas that will ensure that your Jour D’Amour runs as smoothly as possible.
1. “Art, Wine and Cheese, Please”
The MFA celebrates art and fine cuisine with a prix fix event at the Museum’s Garden Court restaurant. Dinner begins at 5:30pm and runs $65 per person.
2. “Viva Las Vegas!” Weekend Getaway
Discover the Vegas in a whole new light…through the eyes of a loved one. Site59.com offers Citi-Assist friendly flight and hotel accommodations for as little as $230 per person. It is a long weekend, so go for it!
3. Swoon to Symphonic Melodies
Renowned violinist, Midori, performs a classical Violin Concerto. Tickets for the BSO show run as little as $25 per person. Showtime: 1:30pm
4. Cruise the night away
Boston Harbor Cruises offers a special dinner and dancing Valentine’s Day cruise. Call 877.733.9425 for details. Warning: Check the weather forecast before proceeding!
5. Cocktails, Conversation and Jazz
Some of you might not be just “there” with your special someone yet. So, consider instead an evening of cocktails, conversation and jazz music at the Oak Bar at the Fairmont Copley Plaza Hotel.
6. Just Dinner
Just want a quiet evening for two? Try Les Zygomates for a romantic meal that can’t be beat.
7. “On the Chic” at Saint
If martinis and red carpet feel more like home to you and your honey, Saint is the place to be. Sample from their extensive (and expensive) drink and munchies list. Top the evening off with cosmos and kisses at Whiskey Park.
8. On the Cheap, but True to the Heart
Nothing beats understated simplicity. Consider hand delivering flowers to your loved one’s door step with a bottle of wine and a romantic c.d. or movie in hand. Bear-skin rug and a fireplace not included.
9. Club Love
Does your perfect evening involve Moby tunes in the background? Want something more energetic? Hit Sophia’s and show your love on the dance floor.
10. Harvard Squares
Be honest. A big night for you love birds involves getting into your pajamas and replaying your favorite shows on TIVO. If this is you, consider shedding your flannels for a night on the town in Harvard Square. See a movie and enjoy dinner at a local favorite like Jae’s.
