Street Insiders Commune On Vault.com

Calling themselves “shaken and saddened,” the folks at that MBA web Mecca, Vault.com, endured a trying day and maintained their message boards as a forum for Wall Street insiders to share information and vent their feelings. Some of the messages posted on the investment banking, Morgan Stanley, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Accenture boards following the World Trade Center disaster are published here:

“I think that this recent tragedy will put our ‘big, scary layoffs’ into perspective. Our office was just closed. Please pray for everyone that is effected by this tragic loss. God bless and help us all.”

“I saw people covered head to toe in soot (half an inch thick) only – no injuries; I was on Wall Street walking up towards Trinity Church when the first tower collapsed – a horrific sound and then a fast moving wall of soot/smoke – I ducked into a restaurant just as it was catching up to me – and about thirty others arrived just before or soon after; after about 20 minutes I joined an exodus of thousands streaming over the bridge into Brooklyn and from what I see on TV it’s still happening; I have no idea re: the number dead or injured, but it will be high (the 2 hijacked planes alone had 110 passengers).”

“Morgan was reportedly the WTC’s largest tenant, with 50 floors of the 102-story towers. Prayers out to the MS employees who were victims. Cantor Fitzgerald and Morgan Stanley have set up telephone lines for family members of employees looking for details of the incident. The Cantor number is (212) 704-8188. The Morgan Stanley number is (888) 883-4391”

“Words can’t express how I feel. My heart just goes out to the victims and their family members of both WTC, Pentagon, and the airlines. Imagine all those who have lost parents, children, siblings, and friends today. May God comfort you.”
