Soccer Thriller: NB 3, NC 1

Alex Ferguson has always insisted you need a large dollop of luck to win the Premiership.

And, in the land of tractors yesterday, NB got a whole container-load to continue their two-game unbeaten streak.

The man NB should thank is the poor old NC goalkeeper, who let a long range cross from Phil Kaufman bounce in over his head with 2 minutes from
the end to give Section B a 3-1 victory.

It was David Nathan Miller who found the net with two real crackers to set the foundations for Section B’s victory.

Mid-way through the first-half, David Nathan Miller raced clear following a threw ball, and placed the ball beyond the outstretched right hand of Section C’s keeper for his first of the game.

At times in the first half, Section C did threaten swiftly on the break, although they were generally caught out by NB’s defensive rock Claudio Knizek.

Section B persevered and David Nathan Miller started to exploit the increasing amount of room being given him.
In the 70th minute, David Nathan Miller grabbed the lead for Section B. Young played a brilliant, inch-perfect ball through the middle of Section C’s defense.

Miller accelerated ahead and then clipped the ball past the Section C stopper for his second goal of the game.

Section B started to show their class in the closing stages. And with four minutes left, Kaufman – on his second start of the season – lofted a beautiful goal past Section C’s keeper.

Kaufman slid in to block a square pass in midfield, and then did well to clear space for himself as Section C hustled.

Kaufman’s long range pass was possibly intended for Alex Young, lurking at the far post, but Section C’s keeper could do little but watch in agony as the ball came in high in the sky and bounced over the goal line to hand Section B all three points. DREAM TEAM STAR MAN: David Nathan Miller.
