NY Yankees: Still too good

I have no doubt that the formidable Yankees will walk away with the title in October. In an effort to convince the masses, I will present a completely objective analysis of the 2003 team. They have the best pitching staff in the world. Clemens, Wells, Mussina, Pettite, Weaver, and Rivera are joined by one of Cuba’s all-time greats and the best middle man in baseball last year. Alfonso Soriano will hit 50 home runs and steal 50 bases. Jason Giambi will win the American League batting crown and RBI title. Hideki “Godzilla” Matsui, our new Japanese import, will take advantage of the short porch in right and hit 65 home runs. George Steinbrenner will name Derrick Jeter the first captain of the Bronx Bombers since Don Mattingly, creating indissoluble team chemistry. All said and done, it looks to be a 115 win season and a breeze thru the playoffs….Yanks over the Giants in the World Series (sweep). Unfortunately, victory by the Bombers means melancholy for fans of all other teams and a realization that once again, expectations will not be met.
