Harbus Founder Passes Away

Al Gibney (HBS 1938) passed away on February 23 this year at the age of 85. Al, a political science major from Dartmouth joined HBS in 1936, and founded the Harbus News Corporation in the following year. Following a five year stint in the US Navy Al held several jobs in the private sector before founding his own advertising and communications companies in Massachusetts. The son of Madison mayor Frank Gibney, Al continued in the family tradition of community service. He is survived by his wife Jane, son Frank and daughters Joan and Susan.
Even in his retirement Al remained very active. He was on the Harbus mailing list and received a copy of every issue of the Harbus, a tradition that his son Frank will continue. The Harbus joins his family in their moment of grief.
