On Saturday, April 21st, more than 35,000 people will take part in “Pat’s Run” held at Arizona State University in honor of Pat Tillman, who gave up a lucrative career in the NFL to serve his country as an Army Ranger following the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks and was killed by friendly fire in Afghanistan.
Miles away on that same day, Tillman supporters will participate in a 4.2 mile Shadow Run held right next to HBS across Anderson Memorial Bridge. This event will be a causal, fun run/walk fundraiser for the Pat Tillman Foundation (//www.pattillmanfoundation.org/).
After the run, the Harvard Tillman Military Scholars will host a Patriot’s Celebration at Tommy Doyle’s with food, drinks, and a silent auction. The proceeds directly support the Tillman Military Scholars program which, since its inception in 2008, has awarded over $2.2M to 171 Scholars representing 32 states and 59 academic institutions.
The Pat Tillman Foundation currently sponsors 9 students at Harvard Business School and Kennedy School of Government.

About the Pat Tillman Foundation
Pat Tillman was a student-athlete at Arizona State University and played professional football for the Arizona Cardinals. After 9/11 he decided to give up his multi-million dollar NFL contract to join the U.S. Army.
Following his death in Afghanistan in 2004, Pat’s friends and family created the Pat Tillman Foundation to honor his legacy of education, service, and leadership. The foundation endowed a program at ASU called the Leadership Through Action program, which focused on leadership and community service.
The Pat Tillman Foundation is a national leader in providing educational support and resources to veterans, active service members and their spouses. Inspired by Pat’s attributes of leadership, passion for education and spirit of service, the Foundation annually awards educational scholarships through the Tillman Military Scholars program.
