Last week, the Armed Forces Alumni Association raised money for the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans. To raise awareness for the plight of homeless veterans, the Association set up a tent on Spangler Lawn that was manned continuously by a member of the Armed Forces Alumni Association. Each day, over 300,000 veterans are homeless in America. The New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, located downtown by the Government Center, has provided shelter, education, job counseling services, and health care to over 11,000 homeless veterans since 1990.
