Partner Perspective: Welcome Back!

Megan BirkelWelcome back, everyone! I hope everyone survived interviews, is getting back in the swing of things, and hasn’t started to suffer from post-Field depression yet. I imagine it must be hard to get back into class mode after those tequila treks to Costa Rica and jet lagged jaunts to Asia.

As possibly one of the only people left in Soldiers Field Park after finals, I can’t tell you how happy I am to have everyone back! No, really. It was eerily quiet around here after the holidays and even more so once I became a Field widow. After someone from HU housing unexpectedly  let themselves in our apartment to check for a leak while I was home alone (taking a few years off my life in the process), I was more than ready to have my neighbors back and see some semblance of activity on campus. There’s nothing quite like being the only person left on your entire floor to make one too many episodes of CSI give you nightmares.

So, now the question is how to get back into a routine? Well, I’m looking forward to getting back to morning coffee dates in Spangler with my husband, dinners out in Harvard Square, nights with the other partners, and checking out real estate in every city my husband interviews for a job in (Please, I know I’m not the only one who does this).

While I know I’m not a student, I can’t help but be really happy that school is back in session. With so much to look forward to this semester like the Newport ball, new babies in Section D, and (hopefully) summer internships to gear up for, I’m one happy HBS partner.

Until next time!
