The defending A-League Intramural men’s basketball champions rolled on to victory Tuesday, defeating NH 66-32. Showing little signs of rust after a 15-day layoff and 4-day weekend, OI relied on its rebounding, shooting, passing, defense, and other basketball-related skills to jump out to an early lead and coast to victory. Jake Capps led 3 double figure with scorers with 30 points and several disrespectful blocks to seal the victory, while Kyle Barnett’s hustle earned him the rare box score of 6 points, 6 rebounds, 6 missed shots and 6 turnovers – hereafter known as a “case day.”
In describing the victory, Eric Sipe mused, “We feel the team is really starting to come together as the season progresses. We know, having won the championship last year, that momentum is the key to a successful season – that’s why we avoid inertia whenever possible.” Seconded Jeff Quake, “The Quakerman’s motto is MOB – momentum on basketball. It doesn’t really make sense and I don’t know exactly what I’m trying to communicate, but rest assured it helps our team win games. Well, that in addition to superior point totals.”
