On September 22, 2001, the Africa Business Club (ABC) threw a barbecue and party at what has fondly become known as the “Embassy.” The purpose of this event was to encourage community building amongst the African contingent here at HBS as well as unite those students that have an interest in the continent.
The party was a resounding success. We invited African students from Harvard’s Law School, the School of Public Health and MIT’s Sloan School. Members of the greater Boston African community also showed up to support our kick off event. Our amazing DJ played a good mix of hip-hop and African tunes that kept the party going until 6 am. It was fun watching bodies gyrate to the songs of Fela Anikulapo-Kuti and Yvonne Chaka-Chaka. What a joy!
Anyhow, stay tuned as ABC is planning several events for this academic year and everyone is STRONGLY encouraged to attend… Cheers.
