After an incredible 2001-2002 season, the B-School Blades are lacing up their skates for another successful year. Both the men’s and the women’s team took home trophies from last year’s Tuck tournament at Dartmouth College in February, beating out other b-school teams from Michigan, MIT, Tuck, and Wharton. And both teams skated to the championship round in last year’s MacArthur Cup, HBS’ own b-school hockey tournament.
The excitement continues as the 2002-2003 preseason commences. While sporting a cast of returning legends from last year, such as Ken Grahame (OA), Mark MacTavish (OC), Rob Masson (OB), Chris McIsaac (OJ), and international phenom Mika Malin (OG), rumor has it that the 2004 men’s rookie class also boasts players fresh from some professional skating stints. . . and I’m not talking Ice Capades.
Despite having no Canadians on the roster, the women’s Blades look equally capable of facing off against formidable rivals MIT. Former figure skater Deana Menkes (OJ) takes the lead role on the team alongside Amanda Key (OA), who sharpened her skates in the frosty climes of Cornell, and Karen Krause (OF), who serves as proof that even people from Florida can skate. The prime recruit from 2004 comes in the form of defensive powerhouse Jen Daily (NF).
