Canadian Club Ski Trip – Feb 14th to 18th, 2002

As we wait in anticipation for the arrival of the first snowfall, the Canadian Club is hard at work planning for the greatest winter event of the season. No its not another black-tie affair or career-hunting expedition, but rather a chance to get away from the daily stresses of a demanding MBA life and let loose on a winter adventure in the Great White North.

The Canadian Club Ski Trip has a long history at HBS as the biggest and best long weekend event of the year. Having massed to sizes of 400 or more in previous years, it has clearly left its mark on many HBS alumni. This year’s trip offers an exciting new twist. We will be staying in the resort village of Mont Tremblant, about 1.5 hours north of Montreal. Deep in the heart of Quebec, the town of Tremblant offers a glimpse into the French Canadian culture. And forget about the ski in/ski out benefits, our proximity to the mountain will make it an easy stumble home from the nightclubs at all hours of the morning.

The mountain of Tremblant was purchased in 1991 by Intrawest Corporation, developers of Whistler/Blackcomb in British Columbia and Mammoth Mountain in California. Over the past decade, Intrawest has transformed Tremblant and created a pedestrian village featuring the best in shopping, restaurants, boutiques, fitness clubs, aqua clubs, nightclubs and entertainment.

For the fifth consecutive year Tremblant has been voted the #1 ski resort in Eastern North America by SKI Magazine. Tremblant also received top scores for lodging, service, aprŠs-ski (that’s French for “getting drunk at the base of the mountain after a long day skiing”), restaurants and lift facilities.

Recognizing that the ski trip will be many student’s first trip to Canada, we will be running day and night trips to Montreal for those who want to get a flavor for the city. If you’ve never been to Montreal, this is a MUST SEE. Also, for the real adventurers, we will have outdoor activities such as dog sledding, snowmobiling and a true HBS student favorite-ice climbing.

So what do we suggest you do as the weather in Boston turns Canadian? Go North of course, and join us in the Quebec Winter Wonderland of Mont Tremblant for an experience you will never forget.
