After just a few practices since the beginning of the semester, Blades—the HBS hockey team—posed victorious for photographs at the ice rink in Hanover, NH. Even though the official team gear did not arrive in time for the showdown, the players did not hesitate to express school spirit by taping “H” on their crimson-colored off-the-shelf jerseys.

The lack of equipment, however, did not deter Blades from placing first in this year’s Tuck Invitational, where HBS, Kellogg, Wharton, Babson, Cornell, and  two Tuck teams (A and B) spent the weekend carving the ice for a chance to receive the coveted cup. The 16-person Blades played four games, losing to Tuck A (1-4) on Friday night, but returning with a three-game winning streak on Saturday versus Kellogg (3-1) in the second qualifier as well as Tuck A (5-1) and Kellogg (7-2) in the finals.

The small, but committed group of Blade’s supporters traveled from Boston to erupt in cheers at the conclusion of the final game.

Over the next several weeks, Blades are planning to prepare for the upcoming match against the Yale School of Management taking place on November 20 in New Haven, CT as well as the McArthur Cup to be hosted by HBS in April.
