On behalf of the Women’s Student Association (WSA), welcome back to campus! This year is a particularly exciting one for our community, as Harvard Business School is celebrating the 50th anniversary of women being admitted to the MBA program, as well as 40 years of the WSA.
The WSA, in conjunction with the school, has a wide range of fantastic events and programs lined up this year to spark dialogue and reflection on the evolving role of women in business and society.
One of our marquee initiatives is our year-long distinguished speaker series, in which we will invite inspirational female thought leaders to campus to offer their perspectives on an important and ongoing conversation.
We are happy to announce that Dr. Debora Spar, President of Barnard College, former HBS professor, and frequent speaker on issues relating to women in business, will be kicking off our speaker series on Tuesday, October 9.
That same week, Professor Anne-Marie Slaughter, author of a controversial article in The Atlantic this summer entitled “Why Women Still Can’t Have It All”, will be on campus on Thursday, October 11 to share her insights. Look out for these events and more in future communications from the WSA.
This year is an important milestone for our entire community, not just women. The WSA seeks to engage both men and women in an ongoing dialogue, and we challenge all HBS students to use your time on campus as an opportunity to ask questions, engage in meaningful conversations related to gender, and learn from one another’s experiences.
