Rugby Player Profile

TITLE:
Rugby, Co-Captain

Approximately two thirds of Anthony Bangay (OG); 1x James Joun’s calves (OD).

Anywhere that provides sufficient open space to run away

HAVE YOU PLAYED RUGBY BEFORE?
Yes. I played for four years at Middlebury College on an athletic scholarship. OK, technically if you filled out the coupon at the local Sizzler and spent $50 or more on your bill, you got $5 off your next meal. But money’s money right?

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN RUGBY AT HBS?
After winning a string of monkey knife fights in the basement of Tommy Doyle’s last fall, I was recruited heavily by the ECs.*

WHO INSPIRES YOU HERE?
Scott Daubin (OE) for sure. When he told me about how he mentored young inner city youth with golf lessons during orientation, I thought, “Why can’t I do the same?” ÿSo I am thinking about teaching urban kids about yachting, polo, or maybe mountaineering. You know – things they can easily do in the city.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE RUGBY TEAM?
Camaraderie for sure. The guys are always messing with me and having a good time. You know, they will shout things like: “Hey Doug, get off the field!” or “Hey Doug, you aren’t on the rugby team.” ÿCrazy guys.

ANY ADVICE FOR THE RC’s THIS YEAR?
Definitely stop by the rugby team table at the Club Fair (men’s or women’s tables) and give it a try. ÿSerious answer for once.

FAVORITE ATHLETIC DRINK(S):
Chocolate mousse, Hollandaise sauce, warm milk

*No actual monkeys have ever been injured in Tommy Doyle’s basement to the interviewee’s knowledge. This is a joke.
