Remnants of Hurricane Ernesto cleared just in time, and under the gaze of sunny skies, the HBS Partners’ Club, with the help of SA Orientation sponsor Bain & Co., introduced more than 270 incoming partners and their students to a traditional New England clambake.
This event, designed for incoming HBS couples and their children, provided a little escape between the rigors of orientation week and the first day of classes.
After enjoying a bowl of delicious clam chowder, attendees feasted on steamed lobster and clams (commonly known as “steamers”), barbecued chicken and corn on the cob. The meal, catered by Vinwood Catering, culminated with strawberry shortcake for dessert. It doesn’t take an MBA from Harvard to know that an opportunity to eat such delicacies shouldn’t be passed up-particularly when gratis!
Forty miles north of Cambridge, Winter Island Park in Salem, MA, was an ideal venue to experience the North Shore’s beauty. The park setting featured lush grass replica watches uk, blooming flowers and lovely rocky beaches where guests could stroll. However, as a family-friendly event, the main attraction (aside from the food) might have been the playground where the youngest members of the HBS community proudly sported their specially designed t-shirts and made fast friends.
SA Co-Presidents Justin Hu and Keith Melker were present to welcome Class of 2008 students and partners, and they pointed out the ways in which the Partners’ Club strives to integrate partners into the HBS experience. According to Jessica Melker, Partners’ Club co-president and one of the event organizers replica breitling, “The Clambake is a perfect introduction to New England.” She added, “Additionally, the first few weeks of Orientation activities can be pretty overwhelming, so it’s nice to have a smaller event where partners and their students can get to know other couples in a unique and historical environment.”
