On February 23rd, Fortune.com featured an article published in the popular MBA website Poets & Quants about the new 2011 Unofficial Harvard Business School Interview Guide published by the Harbus. This comes in the wake of changes the Harbus has recently ushered in including its new Facebook page (//tinyurl.com/TheHarbusFacebook), Twitter account (twitter.com/TheHarbusHBS) and revamped website.
The Interview Guide, which is a 40 page PDF, consists of around 50 past HBS interview questions, and analysis compiled by polling students, tips for interview day preperation, and some practical suggestions for putting the best foot forward to help candidates succeed. Whereas other products derive from “historical knowledge” of the admissions process and interaction with “recent applicants,” our guide bestows first-hand insight, advice and analysis from current HBS students.
Fortune.com quotes the Harbus General Manager, Catherine Leary Tomezsko in her interview with John Byrne: “We want to make sure that everybody who buys the guide has a chance [to get into Harvard]”.
The Harbus believes that the analysis that accompanies the questions provides some real insights for candidates aspiring to get into the school while at the same time not ‘putting words into their mouths’.
The proceeds from the sale of the Unofficial Interview Guide goes to non-profits supporting education, literacy and journalism in the Boston area. The Harbus has started selling the interview guides through the newly developed website: www.hbsinterview.com
